Inkslinger
Description: Inkslingers are a new group of mages whom specialize in tattoo magic. They are skilled artists and enchanters. Inkslingers are most common in SIGIL, where the trade first gained its infamy from a well known inkslinger called Fell. Most Inkslingers are as much artists as mages and have eccentric attitudes that are common to artists. Many of these inkslingers are their own best customers and will employ a variety of powerful tattoos. Role: Inkslingers can serve a party in several ways. Their ability to cast tattoo makes them a valuable source of temporary magic items. Moreover, those Inkslingers that have setup permanent shops can rival most barkeeps for being a limitless source of the latest chant. They ix with all levels of society and know which cutters are the real thing and which ones are using hidden tattoos to aid them. Secondary Skills: Inkslingers should have the Artist Secondary Skill Weapon Proficiencies: Inkslingers have the same weapon restrictions as mages but tend to prefer daggers and darts over staves. Nonweapon Proficiencies: Required: Artist. Recommended: General: Etiquette, Heraldry Rogue: Forgery, Information Gathering, Fast-talk, Observation Wizard: Herbalism, Reading/ Writing, Spellcraft, Ancient Languages: Runes. Equipment: Inkslingers carry little in the way of unique equipment. The tend to wear fine clothing and cover themselves in tattoos as a way to promote their art. A list of common Inkslinger tools can be found in the Warroom. Recommended Traits: Artistic Ability. Benefits: Inkslingers are the masters of the art of tattooing. Once they reach 3rd level, an Inkslinger automatically gains one new tattoo to add to his collection. This tattoo can be one of the many listed here, or it can be one that is developed though his own experiences. Due to their exposure to the arts, Inkslingers may wear one extra tattoo for every five levels of experience startin at level 5. Hindrances: Inkslingers are poor combatants, even more so thatn normal mages. Their dedication to art and magic leaves them little time to practice weapons play. They recieve a -1 to hit with all weapons. Wealth: Standard for the character's class.
