Mage plate is named so for its design makes it especially useful to spell casters. Mage plate is fashioned with a large metal belt that supports a plate of steel that runs up and covers the chest of the user. A heaver skirt of leather, split for riding, drapes about the legs. The shoulders and arms are left free of straps and armor to allow the spellcaster total freedom of movement when casting spells.
