Mythril Shirt

Edition:  l  AD&D 2e  l

The original 2nd Edition entry from the Forge.

This armor is highly prized and extremely expensive. A mythril shirt is the epitome of dwarven craftsmanship. This armor appears to be now more than a light sweater. Upon close scrutinization, it is possible to the see the many minute links that make up this armor. It is a favorite amongst courts were it is not always possible to wear plate mail to protect against the assassins blade.

Mythril Shirts are not magical. They protect as if they were chainmail but are only as cumbersome as padded armor for means of calculating encumbrance and thieving abilities. A Mythril Shirt is made of tightly woven links of mythril steel. It requires hundreds of hours to weave such a perfect suit. The mail is so incredibley compact, that it turns all damage into bludgeoning. No weapon, not even a sword of sharpness, has ever cut through one of these excuisite pieces of armor. Dwarves charge a dragon's horde of treasure if commissioned to create one of these suits of armor. They have also, on occasion, been given to close friends and allies of the clan.
