Doppelgangerby Citadelraven.com
Edition: l AD&D 2e l D&D 3e (original) l The original 2nd Edition entry from the Forge. This 2" white Pearl radiates strong alteration powers when a detect magic is cast upon it. The Pearl was created by the wizard Araman. Frustrated with the large number of enchantments "wasted" on weapons and armor that he could not use, Araman created the Doppelganger as a solution. The Pearl allows any magic-using class to transfer enchantments from one item to another. Any anchantments on the receiving item are completely and forever lost and are replaced by the new enchantments. The item from which the enchantments are absorbed also loses all of its powers. While it is not known for certain, it may be possible to transfer the enchantments between two items. Essentially, trading the enchantments between the two items. To date it has never been attempted and no one seems to want to risk losing the enchantments on both items. As submitted to the site's 3e section; shown unchanged.
