Ring of True Strike

Ring of True Strike

Edition:  l  D&D 3e (original)  l

Originally posted on the Realms of Evil forums (Womb of Creation), December 1, 2001. The author did not name an edition; it is filed under D&D 3e by its rules. This page uses the author's revised version (post 13, December 9, 2001) with his later changes from reply #17. Changes the author made later in the thread are applied and listed at the end. Shown as written, with light spelling and formatting fixes only.

Adds 20 to attack rating, but total attack rating when wearing this ring can't exceed 35. Also the ring will only work with a specific type of weapon (sword, axe, bow, etc.). I also decided to have it work with magic spells that require a ranged attack roll, so count magic as a specific weapon. The type of weapon that the ring works for is totally up to the DM or the character making it.

A person can only wear one of these rings, and the spell true strike no longer affects the wearer.

Market Price: 300,000 gp.

Original Version

As the name suggests the wearer of this ring is constantly under the effects of a true strike spell, adding 20 to your attack. So if you play by third edition rules I wouldn't suggest using this, for it is far too powerful, but it really comes in handy at times.

Author's Notes and Corrections

  • Reply #17 (December 10, 2001): the author raised the attack limit from 25 to 35 ("35 sounds better so that's what it will be"), limited a person to one ring, and said the true strike spell no longer affects the wearer.
  • The author wrote the price as "$300,000"; it is shown here as 300,000 gp.
