Thundergod's Visor

by Citadelraven.com

Thundergod's Visor

The brilliant helm is adorned with large meticulously detailed golden wings that sweep back from the helm. The half visor obscures all but the mouth and chin from view and is a highly polished mithral. Despite the lack of eye slots, the helms magic allows the wearer to see normally. The Thundergod's visor was enchanted by a northman shaman who's tribe worshipped an obscure god of Thunder. The helm was the mantle of leadership within the tribe and was passed on to each new leader. The helm and the tribe were lost to a merciless attack by a venerable white dragon.

The white held the helm for many years before losing to a brave group of thieves who infiltrated the lair of the great beast. The helm has since been sited in many locations and tales of the power of the Thundergod's visor are common in areas where it has last been seen.

The Thundergod's visor grants the wearer a +2 deflection bonus to armor. In addition, the helm grants DR12 vs. lightning. One of the hideen abilities that most enemies figure out too late, is the ability of the helm to release a bolt of lighting against any creature that successfully attacks the wearer. There is a 50% chance per hit that a bolt of energy will be released inflicting 1d8 points of electrical damage. The helm can also be used to call down the power of the thundergod. Once per day, the helm can release a lightning bolt as if cast by a 10th level caster. It is a standard action to call forth this ability.
