Although commonly mistaken for hatchling crystal dragons, crystal dragonets are indeed a species unto themselves. They are not as intelligent as their full grown counter parts but are still smart enough to be very toublesome. They are highly curious but are leary of humans unless they earn its trust. Crystal dragonets are openly hunted for their hides as they are the primary component in a Robe of Scinilating Colors. Crystal dragonets have translucent, scinilating scales. Moonlight and Starlight cause their scales to luminesce, while bright sunlight lends them a dazzling brilliance which makes them almost unbearable to look at. When holding absolutely still, these creatures look like statues of crystal. Crystal dragonets speak common and the language common to all gem dragons. There is a 10% chance per age category that the dragonet will know additional languages.

Combat: Crystal dragonets are not great fighters. If they are faced with a situation in which they feel they are overmatched they will use their special ability to blind their opponents and flee, if cornered, they will use their breath weapon to stun their opponents and follow up with spells. Crystal Dragonets have the casting ability of a 4th level magic user. Crystal dragonets may illuminate their bodies at will up to three times per day. This is the equivalent of casting a color spray spell. The crystal dragonets breath weapon is a cone of glowing shards. The cone is 15' long, 6" wide at the dragons mouth and 6' at the base. Creatures in the area of effect can save vs. breath weapon for half damage, they must additionally save vs. breath weapons or be blinded for 1 turn.

Habitat/Society: Crystal Dragonets make their lairs wherever precious gems and minerals may be found. A lucky crystal dragon will befriend a dwarf or two and eat the gems that are flawed. An unluckey dragonet will be considered a pest and be exterminated. Crystal Dragonets have a strong familial bond. They care for their young until they are ready to leave the den.
