The plufora is a large graceful bird of astonishing beuaty. The plufora stands nearly four feet tall and has a wingspan just over 6'. It has a slender graceful neck and a small delicate head with a razor sharp beak. Its plumage is brightly colored and seems to shift colors as one watches it. If has a crown of feathers of the purest gold while is head is a bright iridescent blue. The plufora is a scavenger of the worst variety. Its song is so beautiful that it can entrance an unsuspecting foe and lure it to a horrid death.

Combat: The plufora does not engage in direct combat. If confronted by a foe who has resisted its charms, it flees to its lair. Despite this birds breathtaking beauty, it is very dangerous and has lured many an adventurer to their deaths. Simply viewing the bird, requires a saving throw vs. spell. If the save fails, the person falls into a deep trance for 2d4+1 rounds. If the bird begins to sing, all creatures in the vacinity must make a saving throw vs. spell with a -2 penalty. They must make a save for every round they can hear the song or fall into the same trance. Once the unfortunate person has fallen into a trance, the plufora begins eating them alive. Using its razor sharp beak, it tears out the victims throat and feeds.

The birds scinillating colors make it difficult to target with missle weapons. As a result, all ranged attacks are -2 to hit.

Habitat/Society: The plufora are solitary creatures coming together only once every three years to mate. The mother then flies off and has the babies caring for them on her own. The birds are deadly after one short month with their mother and fly off to seek out their own territory.

Plufora prefer forested areas where they can prey on hunters and foresters but are also known to make their homes in dark caves. They tend to avoid elves and dwarves because of their natural resistances to their charms.

Ecology: A plufora is first and foremost a scavenger.Unlike many scavengers, it prefers its food warm and fresh. It has a malevolent intelligence that makes it a deadly foe. Its favorite tactic is to prey upon solitary woodsman and hunters although rare stories have been told of these creatures possessing larger numbers.

Many a treasure hunter has met his demise hunting these creatures. Their feathers are prized for their use in Robes of Scintillating Colors, while their great crown of golden feathers has been used to create Helms of Human Influence.
