Rock Dragons resemble large lizards made of stone rather than a dragon. Rock dragons have no wings, but have strong, powerful legs and a large spiked tail. Their skin appears to be made of large boulders and stones that cover it from head to toe. Their eyes appear to be milky white stones. In reality, they are blind and sense their opponents through their amazing connection with the earth. Their tail spikes are also stone. These dragons are chameleon-like in their abilites and they are nearly undetectable (90% Hide In Shadows) in their natural environment even to infravision. They will attack any creature entering their lair.

Combat: Rock dragons are fierce combatants. Their powerful claws allow them to crawl along ceilings and walls. The will often ambush their querry by tail slashing while perched on the ceiling. (-4 to opponenets suprise). In combat, it will attack with its two claws (1d8) and its powerful jaws (2d8). It will also perform a tail slash inflicting 1d12+8 points of damage to anyone hit. Any non-magical weapon stiking a Rock Dragon must save vs. crushing blow with a -4 penalty or break. Rock Dragons have a unique breath weapon. Their breath weapon is a spray of rocks and stones 5' wide at the base and 40' wide at the end, extending for nearly 40'. The rocks and stones are eaten by the rock dragon and stored in a second stomach. They may use this attack three times before they must eat more rock, however they are not limited to the number of times they can use their breath in a day. In addition, the rock dragon can employ the following spell-like abilities as a wizard of equal hit dice. Dig and Passwall twice per day, Stone tell and Wall of Stone once per day, and Transmute Rock to Mud/ Mud to Rock three times per day.

Habitat/Society: Rock dragons are not truely dragons. They are naturally from the elemental plane of earth and have traveled in packs to other planes. The have a pack mentality and fight effectively in groups. They due have the tendecy of dragons to horde treasure, although they tend to eat most gems they find. Each pack will have one 12HD male who leads them. They spend most of their time in areas with a large abundance of stone and gem quarrys. Occasionally, they will be found basking in the sun warming their bodies.
