Description: Bovi is a warrior is his prime. He is strong yet handsome features. He is an imposing figure standing 6'8" and weighin in at 285 lb of pure muscle. He has soft blue eyes and wears his blond hair shoulder length. Unlike most Northmen, he chooses not to wear a beard. He is normally seen wearing the furs and trappings of a typical Northman. When prepared for battle, Bovi cuts a very different picture. He wears a suit of polished three quarter plate that is inlaid with designs of gold. He casually wields his mighty axe which he has affectionately named the Reaper. He wears a pot helm with an eye shield and carries a medium shield emblazoned with a white wolf. Personality: Bovi is a jovial warrior who is often strcuk by periods of somberness. He believes very strongly in ones own honor as the most precious belonging one can have. He makes friends easily, unless they are elves, inviting them in to spend hours drinking fine mead and eating rich foods. Like any man with his skill, Bovi is very devoted to his skill and makes no jokes when combat is involved. Unlike many Northman, he does not relish plundering and attacking the Ffolk of the Moonshaes. he feels that his blade is put to better use against the many threats from both the sahaguin and the firbolgs. Game Uses: Bovi owns Highstone Keep, a small walled city, about 50 miles from Iron Keep in the Moonshaes. He has nearly two thousand Northeners under his protection with nearly 600 of them being capable warriors. Bovi's talents are well regarded and he hosts a training facility within the walls of his keep. Many Northmen and a few travels from the Sword Coast travel to his keep to recieve his expert tutelage. He accepts those willing to learn openly demanding monetary payment for his troubles. His fee is not small and can range greatly depending on the level of training that one desires (see Highstone Keep). He puts his money to good use trading with other kingdoms to provide care for those under his protection and fortifying his keep. As part of the training, Bovi leads patrols of his students into the wilderness attacking known firbolg lairs. Once every five years, Bovi travels to Waterdeep and purchases potions and equipment for an underwater expedition in which he attacks a sahaguin settlement, decimating their ranks. History: Bovi was born in Highstone Keep heir apparent to the Highstone throne. His father, a burly Northman named Fenris, was a Northman of considerable skill and tact. He trained his son from his earliest years grooming him to be a fine leader of men. Fenris spent a great deal of time with his son. He was present at all meetings regarding the rule of the land and traveled with his father often. When he was age ten, his baby sister, Hyla, was born into the world. Bovi's skill in combat is due in no small part to his father. From the day he could lift an axe, Fenris saw to it that his son trained daily. His first combat took place in the great raid of the Caer Callidyr during the Darkwalker War. He witnessed there a horrifying sight. He found he had little stomach for the mass slaughter of other humans regardless of their cultural differences. Fenris and Bovi both survived the route that the Ffolk put on and limped back to Highstone Keep. Things were not well for the Northmen and the winters that followed took a heavy toll upon their ranks. Even worse, a sahaguin city off the coast had taken apparent interest in Highstone Keep and began regular raids against the weakened Northmen. It was during these years of hardship that Bovi ae into manhood. Under the expert tutelage of his father, Bovi became one of the deadliets men in the North his great battle axe meant certain death to any foolish enough to stand against him. He also began to take on the responsibilities of the keep. He saw to the defences and the farmlands beyond. Tragedy struck for Bovi when a large force of sahaguin poured from the the depths of the ocean and atttacked Highstone. He followed his father bravely into the fray cutting wide swaths through the throng with his mighty axe. Battling their way to the heart of the attack, Fenris face off against an extremely large sahaguin wielding a mighty axe of his own. The battle was forocious and though Fenris won, he suffered a mortal blow. With the death of their leader, their moral broken, the sahaguin retreated into the sea. Fenris died in Bovi's arms on the battle field. It was then and there that Bovi swore to be the eternal enemy of the sahaguin. The very next day, as the men and women of the Keep cleared the battle fields of their dead and burned the bodies of the sahaguin, Bovi discovered the mighty axe that the sahaguin leader had used to slay his father. He took it up, noticing instantly the fine balance and elegant detailing of the axe. It was obviously not made by the sahguin as the detailing was of Northmen design. Fenris was buried in stately honor and Bovi was coronated the King. With his sister at hs side, he worked hard over the next few years to make the Keep prosperous once more. Luck was within him for stories of his prowess in battle travelled the Moonshaes and he soon found many young warriors seeking the tutelage of a great warrior. It was Hyla who realized to potential this turn of events presented to their struggling Keep. Bovi relinquished many of the duties of his office to his sister and took to training men to earn money for the Keep. As the warriors ventured forth and their skill in combat gained infamy, so too did Bovi's own fame grow. The Keep began to prosper and soon Bovi took a up a quest to avenge his fathers death. Venturing to the great city of Waterdeep, he bought supplies to make an underwater expedition. he took fifty of his warriors with him into the deep. They came across a small partol of the fishmen not far off the coast. The Northmen tore into their ranks and decimated them. Bovi leading the men to victory without a single casualty. So begin Bovi's longstanding feud with the fishmen of the deep. He spends his days training would be warriors and overseeing the fortifications of Highstone Keep. Allies: Enemies:
