Psionics: Cassius manifests powers as a 25th-level kineticist psion: 405 power points per day (343 base plus 62 for Intelligence), save DC 15 + power level, 37 powers known up to 9th level. His 2e entry lists no psionic powers, so only a few signature powers that suit Ahwehota's Chosen are named here; the rest are the DM's choice.
Signature powers: 1st—energy ray, inertial armor, vigor; 2nd—energy missile, energy stun; 3rd—body adjustment; 4th—energy ball, psionic dimension door; 5th—energy current, psionic teleport. He favors electricity with energy powers.
Greater Psionic Weapon: While psionically focused, he can expend his focus to deal an extra 4d6 damage with one melee attack.
Speed of Thought: +10 feet to his speed while psionically focused (included above). Up the Walls: While psionically focused, he can run up walls as part of his move.
Fighting Styles: His Tahlzara sword style becomes his two-weapon, Whirlwind Attack and Spring Attack feats, and his Anzara martial art becomes Improved Unarmed Strike and Stunning Fist. His parrying becomes Two-Weapon Defense, Combat Expertise and Improved Disarm. See the site's fighting styles and martial arts for the 2e versions.
Mark of Ahwehota: Immunity to electricity, from the lightning-bolt mark of his patron.
Leadership: His students at his castle in the Thunderpeaks are his followers; Angela is his cohort.
Blade of Auranae: A +5 bastard sword forged for him by Knolan, Trinket and Bud. Its 2e entry gives only its combat numbers, so it has no special abilities here.
Shortsword of Lightning: A +2 shocking burst short sword (+1d6 electricity, +1d10 more on a critical hit).
Wand of Force, Ring of Shocking Grasp, Rod of Building (carried over from 2nd Edition): These have no core 3.5 equivalents and work as written in 2nd Edition.
Possessions: Blade of Auranae, Shortsword of Lightning, bracers of armor +8 encased in dragon's teeth, boots of speed, ring of three wishes (2 wishes left), wand of force, ring of shocking grasp, rod of building, double scabbard, fine red clothes.
Conversion notes (how conversions are made):
- His 2e dual-class Fighter 26/Psionicist 25 keeps both classes in full: Fighter 26/Psion 25, 51st level under the Epic Level Handbook. He reached 20th level as a fighter, so his fighter levels past 20 and all his psion levels are epic levels. His base attack bonus is +20 plus a +15 epic attack bonus, and his saves include a +15 epic save bonus.
- Psionics use the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Kineticist (Psychokinesis) fits the lightning of Ahwehota. His power points stop growing past 20th level, as spells per day do in the Epic Level Handbook, except for his Intelligence bonus.
- His 2e 113 hit points are below the minimum his new Hit Dice allow, so he uses the average.
- His 18/69 Strength becomes 20. His 2e magic resistance (2% per level) becomes spell resistance 30, which stops about half of a 20th-level caster's spells.
- Grand mastery of the bastard sword becomes the Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization feats, their Greater and Epic versions, and Improved Critical. Shortsword specialization becomes Weapon Focus (short sword). His Dexterity of 17 is too low for Greater Two-Weapon Fighting.
- His bracers of defense AC 2 become bracers of armor +8. With Armor Skin, his AC comes to 22, the same as his 2e entry.
- The Shortsword of Lightning's shocking burst property is new to this conversion; its 2e entry gives only its attack and damage.
- Teaching, Tactics, Weapon Lore and Style Analysis have no 3.5 skills and aren't converted; his fame as a teacher becomes Epic Reputation and Leadership. Tightrope Walking becomes Balance, Seamanship becomes Profession (sailor) and Riding becomes Ride and Legendary Rider.

Defensive Duelist: When wielding his shortsword, he adds +6 to his AC against one melee attack as a reaction (his parrying).

Bonus Actions
Off-Hand Attack: After attacking with the Blade, he attacks with the Shortsword of Lightning (Dual Wielder lets him pair them).
Boots of Speed: He clicks his heels to double his speed, and opportunity attacks against him have disadvantage, for up to 10 minutes a day.
Psionicist Powers (for his 25 psionicist levels): Cassius manifests these innately, using Intelligence (spell save DC 19, +11 to hit), with no components:
At will: detect thoughts, mage armor (self only), mage hand
3/day each: dimension door, lightning bolt, shield, sending
1/day each: mind blank, plane shift, teleport
Legendary Prowess (for his levels above 20th):
Legendary Resistance (3/Day): If Cassius fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance (carried over from 2nd Edition): He has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Legendary Actions (3/Round): Cassius can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn. He regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
Attack. Cassius makes one weapon attack.
Telekinetic Shove. One creature within 30 feet makes a DC 19 Strength save or is pushed 10 feet and knocked prone.
Lightning Step (Costs 2 Actions). Cassius teleports up to 30 feet to a space he can see and makes one weapon attack.
Blade of Auranae (weapon (longsword), very rare, requires attunement): A +3 longsword (5e's bastard sword).
Shortsword of Lightning (weapon (shortsword), rare, requires attunement): A +2 shortsword that deals an extra 1d6 lightning damage on a hit.
Wand of Force, Ring of Shocking Grasp, Rod of Building (carried over from 2nd Edition): These have no 5e equivalents and work as written in 2nd Edition.
Possessions: Blade of Auranae, Shortsword of Lightning, bracers of defense encased in dragon's teeth, boots of speed, ring of three wishes (2 charges), wand of force, ring of shocking grasp, rod of building, double scabbard, fine red clothes.
Conversion notes (how conversions are made):
- 5e has no psionicist class in the 2014 rules, so his Fighter 26/Psionicist 25 is built as a 20th-level Psi Warrior fighter (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything), with a +6 proficiency bonus. Psi Warrior uses Intelligence, his best mental score.
- His Psionicist Powers stand in for his psionicist levels, and Legendary Resistance and legendary actions for the rest of his power. Both are new to this conversion; his 2e entry lists no psionic powers, so the spells were chosen to suit Ahwehota's lightning and his travels to other worlds.
- His 18/69 Strength becomes 20.
- His seven Ability Score Improvements all go to feats, so his ability scores stay as in his 2e entry. Dual Wielder and the Two-Weapon Fighting style cover his two-weapon grand mastery; Defensive Duelist covers his parrying; Martial Adept stands for the Tahlzara and Anzara styles; Inspiring Leader covers his teaching.
- 5e has no weapon mastery or grand mastery. His extra attacks, Psionic Strike and Martial Adept stand in for it.
- He wears no armor, so his AC comes from mage armor (one of his Psionicist Powers), his bracers and Dual Wielder.
- His immunity to lightning is the mark of Ahwehota. His 2e magic resistance becomes advantage on saves against spells.
- The City Watch background (Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide) reflects his years in the Raven's Bluff guard.
- The extra lightning damage of the Shortsword of Lightning is new to this conversion.

Description: Cassius is a handsome middle-aged man with stark white hair and bright blue eyes. He typically can be found wearing fine clothes, usually red in color. He prefers boots, breeches and a vest. His Bracers are encased in dragon's teeth that have been enchanted with bone steel. He keeps his prized weapon, the Blade of Auranae, in a specially designed double scabbard slung across his back diagonally. His shortsword fits into the scabbard going the opposite direction. He bears the mark of Ahwehota, a lightning bolt that runs from his left shoulder to his right side.
Personality: Cassius is a very disciplined and focused man. To the outside world he appears sullen and withdrawn. Only his close friends know the real Cassius. He is a warm and caring individual who has known hardship throughout his life. In his teachings, he is extremely patient. His smile encourages results, which he always seems to get. He will gladly teach mastery in the Bastard Sword to any who would come. To those who are worthy and accept his price, he will teach his special martial and weapon styles. His love in life is a woman named Angela, a priestess of Tymora who has accompanied him on many journeys.
Game Uses: Cassius resides in the Thunderpeaks on the southwestern corner of Cormanthyr. He built his special castle here as a first line of defense for the elves of the region and also as a safe haven for them. He will teach in his home for a modest fee and provides food and shelter for all students.
His fees are usually 100 gold/level. He will also accept any tomes or treatises as payment, as he finds knowledge to be more important than money. He will teach mastery to any warrior willing to spend the time and money. His price for teaching his fighting styles is life long servitude for his god, Ahwehota. This price should only be offered to those of good alignment that have proven themselves worthy.
History: Cassius's story begins in the City of Raven's Bluff. Not much is known before that. He grew own the streets and at the age of 15 enrolled in the guard full time. He learned many skills. When his three year service was up, Cassius began travel north toward Mulmaster, near the Moonsea. He met up with Piccolo, a thief shortly there after and the travelled together out of convenience, though they soon became friends. Cassius adventured around the Moonsea for sometime, stopping in the towns on his way north around the east end of the Moonsea and then headed west. He made friends with a local mage named Knolan, a gnome inventor named Trinket, and a dwarven smith named Bud. It was these friends that forged his prized bastard sword. He acquired a few more travelling companions, some outcasts and drifters like himself, others claiming to be on a mission.
While travelling north of the Dragonspire Mountains, Cassius and his friends encountered a lowly shack high in the mountains. Here his life would change forever. He met a old hermit by the name of Max. But Max was not what he seemed. In fact, he was a demigod named Ahwehota. Ahwehota had watched Cassius for sometime and noticed qualities within him that could change the world. He made Cassius the first of his Chosen, training him in the use of his sword and his unique fighting styles. He also supplied him with equipment, including his Boots of Speed and his Ring of Shocking Grasp. He also required a bargain from Cassius. When Cassius's time came to depart the mortal coil, he would become an emissary for Ahwehota.
Cassius continued on his travels which included Zhentil Keep, Hellgate Keep, and journeys to other worlds. He met another man in his travels named Oli Kingslayer, an elven master archer who would accompany him on his journeys to repay Cassius for saving his life and the lives of his people. Cassius also discovered at this time the source of his combat styles. They had been taught to a mortal Max who had adventured across the planes and other worlds in his quest for godhood. He would later return to Abeir-Toril and would build a castle in the Thunderpeaks on the southwest end of Cormanthyr. Here he trains new warriors and has begun his inner search for ultimate peace. But this peace may be short lived. Recently Cassius has uncovered clues to his past that may be destroy everything he has accomplished. Only time will tell.
