Spells of Choice: magic missile (+3), lightning bolt (+2), chain lightning (+1). Each time he casts one, he splits its bonus between his initiative and a penalty to the target's saving throw.
Favored Spells: Shield, haste, fireball, stoneskin, wall of force, Tenser's transformation.

Special Equipment: The Seeker's Blade (long sword +3, see below), elven chain mail +3, ring of protection +1, ring of free action, the purple-and-silver uniform of the War Wizards.

War Wizard: Damien is a fighter/mage with the War Wizard kit from The Complete Book of Elves, and he serves Cormyr's War Wizards, the Crown's order of battle mages (see the Cormyr sourcebook). His training gives him +1 to hit with his chosen weapon, the long sword (included above), and his spells of choice. Before a planned battle, he can scout and map the field and brief his side; if everyone passes an Intelligence check, his side gains +1 to attack rolls for that battle. He keeps to the War Wizards' code: loyalty to the Crown, obedience to the Royal Magician, and a duty to report any magic that threatens the realm. He gives about a month a year to the order. Like the kit requires, he fights only with blades, bows and the mage's weapons. His elven chain mail lets him cast spells in armor.

The Seeker's Blade: A long sword +3 with a hilt wound in silver wire. Its magic is fed by its wielder's anger: while it is drawn in righteous wrath, the wielder is immune to charm and fear. The blade judges as its wielder does. If he strikes someone he believes to be innocent, he feels the blow himself and takes the same damage. Some say the sword remembers the rage of every Seeker who carried it before. Damien rarely lets that anger in; when he draws the blade, he does it the same way he does everything else, calmly.

Description: Damien is tall and lean, with slightly pointed ears, his elven parent's fine features and the piercing, raptor-like gaze of the Rahl line. Off duty he dresses like the woodsman and guide he once was, in practical dark leathers. On duty he wears the War Wizards' uniform over his elven chain, and the Seeker's Blade rides at his hip.

Personality: Damien is cool, calm and collected, and almost impossible to rattle. He is pleasant company, easy to talk to and quick with a courteous word, but it rarely goes deeper than that. He doesn't invest himself in the people around him, and few who have traveled with him could say they really knew him. His father's line ruled through fear and cruelty, and where others might rage against that legacy, Damien simply keeps his distance from it, as he does from most things. Half-elven, he has never fully belonged among humans or elves, and he seems content that way. His service to Cormyr is a duty he performs well, not a cause he believes in.

Allies:
None to speak of. Damien is on good terms with nearly everyone and close to no one.
