Shooting Star is a spear created by the priestesses of Selune. The spear is about 7' long with an ornate head with a single yellow gem in the shape of a star that issues forth a slight glow. The opposite end is tapered to a point. The handle is made of cold iron and the blade is made of silver.
Shooting Star is a spear +3 in the hands of a worshipper of Selune (priest, crusader, paladin, mystic) to any one else the spear functions as a normal spear +1 with no special abilities. Although in the hands of any character, it is considered a +5 weapon for calculating which creatures can be hit. In the hands of a worshipper of Selune, the true powers of Shooting Star come forth. While yielding the spear, the bearer is effected as if wearing a ring of free action and featherfall. When thrown, the spear becomes a glowing missle with a fiery trail, much like a shooting star. When thrown, the spear inflicts double dice damage and bursts in a 10' diameter sphere for 4d6 points of damage. Anyone hit directly automatically takes damage from the burst, those in the blast radius may save vs. spell for half damage. The spear returns to the yielders hands at the beginning of the next melee round. This power may only be used once every other round. In addition, the spear has a 75% chance to dispel magical darkness.
